Concept Design & Consultation

Getting started can feel overwhelming, but NKLA’s Concept Package is a simple, affordable way to explore ideas and gain direction. We’ll walk through everything you do — and don’t — want in your outdoor space, then sketch out ideas and potential options based on your brief.

  • 1.5 hours on site to develop a clear design brief and direction—discussing everything you do and don’t want in your landscape.

  • During the on-site consultation, Nic will explore design options through live sketching—bringing you into the process in a dynamic and collaborative way to fully customise your landscape design.

  • The concept package is designed as an affordable way to explore the spatial arrangement and core ideas for your landscape. While it may not resolve every design detail, it provides a clear overall direction and layout.

  • You’ll receive a scaled CAD-drawn plan via email, typically at 1:100—meaning 1 cm on the plan equals 1 metre on site. The plan includes simple annotations summarising key design details.

  • This process isn’t suitable for all properties and is generally limited to sections of approximately 600m² or less. Please confirm with NKLA to see if your project is eligible for this offering.

  • This is an initial spatial planning exercise designed to arrange the key elements of your landscape—such as utility areas, gardens, lawns, decking, patios, landscape walls, planting zones, and potential tree placements.It is not a fully developed or detailed design and may require further refinement before construction. The intent is to provide a clear window into the potential layout and design opportunities for your outdoor space.

  • Construction details bring your landscape design from vision to reality with precision. These clear, technical drawings guide builders on materials, finishes, and installation methods—ensuring every element is crafted exactly as intended for durability, quality, and seamless execution.

    Detail plans provide the fine-tuned guidance needed to perfect your landscape project, offering precise specifications that ensure every part of your design is executed flawlessly.

  • Our project management service takes the stress out of bringing your landscape to life & the decision making process. We oversee every step—ensuring your vision is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.

  • We source and supply high-quality plants tailored to your landscape design—whether native, exotic, or specialty varieties. Our trusted network ensures healthy, vibrant plants that thrive in your environment and bring your garden vision to life.

Developed Plan & Consultation

For some projects, a more in-depth planning process is needed — one that allows for the exploration of multiple options and encourages creative thinking. In these cases, we follow our Developed Plan process. It begins with a site meeting to establish a clear design brief and sketch out initial ideas.

  • 1.5 hours on site to develop a clear design brief and direction—discussing everything you do and don’t want in your landscape.

  • During the on-site consultation, Nic will explore design options through live sketching—bringing you into the process in a dynamic and collaborative way to fully customise your landscape design.

  • Nic will undertake a comprehensive design process to explore all conceptual ideas and options, presenting them in a collaborative meeting where the concept is refined into a well-resolved plan. While the concept plan is developed, some projects may require a detailed plan to fully resolve the design for construction.

  • A scaled CAD-drawn design set will be presented to you in person, allowing you to understand the design decisions and work collaboratively to develop a fully customised plan you’re happy with.

  • The process allows for 1 x round of changes from the client to ensure its relevance and accuracy with your vision.

  • This process is suited to all property types where a comprehensive design approach is appropriate.

    • Still a ‘Concept’. So some developement may be required for construction

  • We guide you from a blank site to a fully resolved landscape concept tailored specifically to your needs. This process ensures clarity of vision, 

    functional outcomes, general layout & detail. While some further development may be required for construction documentation, this service delivers a strong and well-considered design direction to move forward with.
