‘Northern Corridor’

The Christchurch Northern Corridor Motorway, a key component of the Roads of Significance program, created a vital arterial link connecting Christchurch’s northern suburbs to the CBD. NKLA joined the Urban Design team under The Goodfellow Group in 2015, collaborating closely with Fulton Hogan to develop detailed design and documentation for the entire 16 km stretch of State Highway 1.

At the time, it was the largest project NKLA had contributed to, offering invaluable experience in large-scale infrastructure design. Among various responsibilities, a standout highlight was creating the unique patterns featured on the illuminated panels beneath several motorway bridges—adding an artistic touch to the daily journey of thousands.

It’s a personal pleasure to see these panels in action whenever I drive the route, knowing the part played in bringing them to life.
